Can you facilitate innovation?
A Research Consultant is required for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the University of Reading's School of Agriculture, Policy and Development and Promar International Ltd.  Promar International Ltd is a farm and agri-food consultancy business, part of Genus plc, which specialises in research and consultancy both in the UK and worldwide.  You would be based at the company's headquarters in Nantwich, Cheshire.
The 33 month project aims to develop research and analytical techniques that can be used to improve the productivity and effectiveness of Promar's commercial rural, sustainability and food based consultancy business.
You will be a Graduate or Post Graduate in a relevant subject (agriculture/food related) with a minimum 2.1 or Merit with quantitative skills in data analysis.  You will have an understanding of the UK farming and food industry, and its future challenges, plus an understanding of farm financial issues and data gathering and research techniques.  The successful candidate will have a commercial attitude and a practical approach to finding solutions.  You will have good analytical abilities and will be self-motivated.  You will have the ability to work well in a team and embrace change. Good communication and leadership skills are required as, for example the role may involve travelling to various farms not easily accessible using public transport therefore, a clean UK driving license is preferable.
The package includes a good base salary, a technical and personal training allowance of £6,000 and the opportunity to study for a higher degree with the potential to gain a PhD (if appropriate, and at a reduced or no cost to you).
